环境与化学工程学院成立于1987年，其前身为应用化学系、环境科学与工程学院，2006年更名为环境与化学工程学院。全院现有教职工54人，其中教授9人，副教授、高级工程师15人；博士生导师2人，硕士生导师19人。另有兼职特聘教授3人(其中中国工程院院士1人)。学院现有铁道部青年科技拔尖人才1人，辽宁省“百千万人才工程” 千层次人选3人，辽宁省优秀青年骨干教师3人，校教学名师2人。教师系列中60%以上拥有博士学位。
学院目前共设置环境工程、化学工程与工艺、应用化学和生物技术等4个本科专业，拥有环境科学硕士学位授予权以及工程硕士授予权。正在立项重点建设的学科有4个，包括环境科学校级重点建设学科，环境工程、应用化学和海洋生物学院级重点建设学科。学院设有环境工程、化学工程、应用化学、生物技术4个教研室，以及基础化学实验中心、环境工程研究所等教学研究机构。除承担4个本科专业的教研工作外，还承担全校《大学化学》和《物理化学》公共基础课的教学任务。
环境工程教研室共11人，教授5人，副教授2人，博士6人，在读博士4人；应用化学教研室共10人，教授2人，副教授6人，博士6人，在读博士2人；化工教研室共8人，教授1人，副教授5人；博士2人，在读博士2人；生物技术教研室共7人，教授1人，博士6人。
近5年来承担国家863计划、国家自然科学基金、辽宁省和大连市等各级科研课题30余项，企业环境保护工程等横向课题100余项，各类科研经费800余万元。获得省、市级科技进步奖4项，发表论文300余篇，获国家发明专利6项，多项成果已应用于生产。在环境电化学、水污染治理工程及设备、环境生态学、环境污染化学、海洋活性天然产物以及环境友好材料等研究方向形成了较强的研发能力。2000余平方米的实验中心拥有各类光谱和色谱、铁谱等分析检测仪器，为教学和科研服务。
College of Environmental and Chemical Engineering was established in 1987. It was Department of Applied Chemistry and renamed as College of Environmental Science and Chemical Engineering in 2006. At present, there are 54 faculties, 9 of them are professors, 15 associate professors and senior engineers. There are 2 doctoral tutors and 19 master’s tutors. In addition, there are 3 part-time professor-in-residence (one of them is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering). One staff in the college is awarded the title of the Top Young Scientists and Technicians of Ministry of Railways, three the title of “Project of Hundreds of Thousands Elites” of Liaoning province. Moreover, there are 3 excellent young teachers of Liaoning province and 2 well-known teachers of the university. Sixty percent of the staff possesses a Ph.D degree.
The college provides 4 majors for undergraduate: they are environmental engineering, chemical engineering and technology, applied chemistry and biotechnology. The college is also authorized to entitle master degree of environmental scientific and engineering. Four key academic subjects are being in the construction, which are environmental science (college-leveled), environmental engineering, applied chemistry and marine biology (school-leveled). There are 4 teaching-research sections in the college, including environmental engineering, chemical engineering, applied chemistry and biotechnology. There are also some auditory teaching & research institutes, such as fundamental chemical experiment center and the Institute of environmental engineering. These institutes are taking responsibility of the teaching of the public basic courses of chemistry and physical chemistry to the whole university and the teaching and researching work for the four undergraduate majors of the college.
The teaching-research section of environmental engineering consists of 11 members, five of whom are professors, 2 associate professors, 6 Ph.Ds and 4 doctoral candidates. There are 10 staffs in the teaching-research section of applied chemistry, who are 2 professors, 6 associate professors and 6 Ph.Ds and 2 doctoral candidates among them. The teaching-research section of chemical engineering has 8 members with a professor and 5 associate professors, including 2 Ph.Ds and 2 doctoral candidate. The teaching-research section of biotechnology consists of 7 members with a professor and 6 Ph.Ds.
In the latest 5 years, we have fulfilled more than 30 projects supported by the fund of the National “863” programs, the National Nature Science Foundation of China as well as the scientific and technologic programs of Liaoning province and Dalian city. Moreover, we have also cooperated with companies to carry though 100 or more environment protection researching projects. The overall financial support has been up to more than 8 million RMB. The productions won 4 scientific progress awards granted by the administrations of Liaoning province as well as Dalian city. More than 300 papers were published, and 6 national patents have been granted. More delighted, some of the project results have been applied into industry successfully. We have developed advanced capability on the fields of environmental electrochemistry, the engineering and equipments on water pollution control, environmental ecology, chemistry of environmental pollutions, activated natural marine products as well as environment friendly material etc. Experiment center occupying more than 2000 m2 supplies equipments of various spectrum analysis, gas chromatogram, ferrography and so on, which serves for the teaching and researches well.
